The best designers allow the rest of us to dare to dream. Take the Issey Miyake Spring 2012 collection, presented on the runway at Paris Fashion Week. Though designer Yoshiyuki Miyamae has spent 10 years within the fold of IM, this was his debut collection as head womenswear designer. Certainly the excitement of a fresh face leading the fold found its way into the collection—neon-tippled and a bit techno-obsessed, with ribbon-like splices of color and skin. Seeing the way it all moves from the sketch to the stage, one can’t help but daydream about what might be next for the storied Japanese house, not to mention the world’s closets.
