We caught up with Ben Vorono and Samuel Kientsch, the couple behind menswear line Braille, at Notting Hill’s Wolf & Badger boutique. With an elegant yet unexpected approach to men’s tailoring (one of their best-sellers is a supple, sophisticated cape) Vorono and Kientsch bring a healthy dose of the new to London’s long tradition of haberdashery. Turns out, Wolf & Badger is the perfect place to house them. The treasure-trove of a shop, more art gallery than store, operates like a cooperative. New designers vie for spots in the shop, which offers space to London’s young and innovative, minus the risk of running their own shop. Wolf & Badger co-founder Henry Graham explained that the store itself serves as a bit of a wolf, protecting emerging lines as they enter the the marketplace, “and ‘badger’ in old English means ‘to haggle’.” As Braille quickly amasses a devoted following, we don’t think they’ll have to do much “badgering” for long.
