It’s a most delicious kind of pressure… When Copenhagen soul duo Quadron—a pair whose sultry, smoldering debut currently has earbuds buzzing on both coasts—hit NYC recently for a string of performances, they brought the Arcade along for the ride. Pairing Coco, a 21-year-old vocalist with otherworldly pipes (and rather worldly lyrics) and Robin Hannibal, a producer who counts Pharrell Williams and James Murphy among his fans, Quadron gave us an inside glimpse at their recent trip. From their intimate recording sessions, to an exclusive performance at Suite 903 Sessions and an interview at East Village Radio, the dizzying pace of their week in NYC was matched by the excitement of both fans and typically jaded music heads. Though some might be surprised by the source of their Motown-inflected sound, Quadron is proving that soul music knows no bounds, though, happily, it may have bite.
Quadron will be live at Southpaw in Brooklyn tonight, before hitting dates in Atlanta, Miami and Philly later this week.
