Halloween is upon us, and so we bring you a track from one of our favorite bands, ANR, off of their Halloween mix, TOBE HOOPER. We spoke with MJ of ANR to get the rundown on the mix dedicated to Tobe Hooper, the director of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Tell us about the Halloween Mix
“This is the second in a series of mixes we’ve been making, sort of as an excuse to not actually finish our next album. The last one, PAT RILEY was more of a mix-tape vibe. This one is more like a holiday party album.
What can we expect with the track “Waking the Dead?”
We got some friends singing on there, including “Waking The Dead” where we got a lot of people to do phoned-in vocals. You know how a lot of early nineties songs have calm verses and real heavy choruses? That’s sort of the ebb and flow of horror movies as well; calm normal things, and then really chaotic events. That’s the aim with that track, Waking The Dead. There’s some educational facts about wolves on there as well. Howls of the pack, and such. Werewolves, zombies, and humans, oh my. Also there is a sample of the legendary Bill Moseley on there as Chop Top, because alongside Tobe Hooper, he is our fave.”
What is the cover image?
It’s Tobe Hooper on the set of Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
What are you guys going to be for Halloween?!
We’ll all be going as the Sawyer family this holiday. Leatherface, Chop Top, Grandpa, and the Hitch-hiker. No one’s going as Drayton, the father, though. Too hard to do him justice.
